Attorney Byron Morataya is a native of Guatemala who immigrated to the United States as a young child. As someone who has first-hand knowledge of the immigration process, Attorney Morataya understands the importance of having effective representation and someone who shows compassion and understanding through a process that can often be difficult and confusing for clients. Attorney Morataya is fluent in English and Spanish.
Attorney Morataya has lived most of his life in Massachusetts but completed his undergraduate studies at Oberlin College in the state of Ohio. Attorney Morataya completed his Juris Doctorate Degree in the evening program at New England Law | Boston. While completing his law degree in the evenings, Attorney Morataya also worked full-time during the day as a Math and Spanish high school teacher in Boston.
While in law school, attorney Morataya also interned for Attorney Susan Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As an intern, he obtained extensive experience in crimmigration, removal defense, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). During law school, Attorney Morataya also became a 3:03 Certified Student Attorney and interned at the Committee for Public Counsel (CPCS) in Worcester where he represented indigent clients in Criminal District Court. As a law student, Attorney Morataya spent a summer semester in London, England where he took an extensive course on International Business.
Attorney Morataya has done extensive work representing immigrant children in Probate and Family Court in Worcester County, Middlesex County, and Suffolk County. He also represents clients, including young children, before USCIS and Immigration Court. In addition to immigration law experience, attorney Morataya also represents clients in Criminal District Court in Massachusetts. Attorney Morataya is Certified by the Bar Advocate Program through CPCS and represents indigent clients in criminal matters.
On his free-time, attorney Morataya loves to travel. On his most recent trips Attorney Morataya has visited England, Spain, Italy, and his home country of Guatemala.
Attorney Morataya is a huge soccer fan and loves to spend time with friends and family watching games. He has travelled all over the country to support the Guatemala national team. Attorney Morataya often spends his weekends refereeing adult and youth soccer games.
